What’s New for September at Yonni Castillo State Farm – Protect What Matters. Live With Purpose.
September has arrived! The kids are back in school, football is getting serious, summer is trying to hang on here in Arizona, and we’re officially entering the final stretch of 2026.
At Yonni Castillo State Farm, September reminds us of something important: life is better when we prepare for tomorrow while appreciating today.
So, grab your favorite cup of coffee, take a breath, and see what’s happening this month around our office and community.
What to Review This Month (because “organized you” is a superhero)
Back-to-School Safety:
Review auto policies if you have a new teenage driver or student away at college.
Make sure emergency contact information is current.
Remind young drivers that arriving safely is always more important than arriving quickly.
Life Happens, Policies Should Keep Up:
Did someone start a new job? Buy a vehicle? Move? Welcome a new family member? Send a child off to college?
September is a perfect time for a complimentary insurance review to make sure your protection grows with your life. And don’t forget to ask us how a Personal Liability Umbrella Policy can provide additional protection for what matters most.
A few minutes today can help protect the moments you’ll treasure tomorrow.
September Is Life Insurance Awareness Month
Life insurance isn’t really about death.
It’s about life.
It’s about making sure your spouse can keep moving forward. It’s about protecting your children’s future. It’s about keeping a family’s dreams from becoming financial burdens. It’s about leaving behind love, not worry.
Life insurance is one of the most meaningful ways we can care for the people we love, even when we’re no longer here to do it ourselves.
September is the perfect time to ask yourself:
“If something happened to me tomorrow, would the people I love be financially okay?”
If you’re not sure, let’s have a conversation. No pressure. No complicated pitch. Just an honest conversation about protecting your family’s future.
Because the greatest gift you can leave your family isn’t necessarily money, it’s the confidence that they’ll be okay.
Federal Holidays
Labor Day — Monday, September 7
Our office will be closed Monday, September 7, in observance of Labor Day.
Labor Day is more than a three-day weekend and an excuse to fire up the grill. It’s a chance to recognize the dedication, sacrifice and hard work of the people who keep our families, businesses and communities moving forward.
We hope you take a little time to relax, enjoy your family and appreciate the work you’ve put in this year.
Reminder: While our office is closed, State Farm customers can still access many services through State Farm’s digital and customer-service resources.
September Reminders
September includes several meaningful national observances:
September 11 — Patriot Day A day to remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and to honor the courage of those who responded and served.
September 15 — National Voter Registration Day An opportunity to participate in our communities and exercise one of the responsibilities of citizenship.
September 17 — Constitution Day & Citizenship Day A day recognizing the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787, and celebrating American citizenship.
September 18 — National POW/MIA Recognition Day A time to remember and honor Americans who remain missing or were prisoners of war.
September 28 — National Good Neighbor Day And honestly, this one might be our favorite. Because being a good neighbor doesn’t require a degree, a title or a big bank account. Sometimes it simply means checking on someone, lending a hand, sharing a smile or being there when somebody needs you.
September Is National Preparedness Month
September is National Preparedness Month, a perfect reminder that being prepared isn’t about expecting the worst—it’s about being ready to protect what matters most when life throws us an unexpected curveball.
And let’s be honest... Arizona has already taught us that Mother Nature has a sense of humor.
This month, take a few minutes to:
Review your homeowners or renters coverage.
Make sure your auto coverage still fits your needs.
Check your emergency supplies.
Review important documents and emergency contacts.
Make sure your loved ones know what to do if something unexpected happens.
Review your life insurance and ask yourself, “Would my family be financially protected if something happened to me?”
Preparedness isn’t fear. Preparedness is stewardship.
Initiatives
Celebrating Diversity, Heritage & Community
Hispanic Heritage Month
September 15 – October 15
This month we celebrate the history, culture, contributions and accomplishments of Hispanic and Latino Americans. As a diverse community and a business serving families throughout Arizona and New Mexico, we believe our differences aren’t something that divide us, they are part of what makes our communities stronger. Different backgrounds. Different stories. Different traditions. Different journeys. One community. One human family. We are proud to celebrate the people, cultures and traditions that make our communities vibrant and unique. At Yonni Castillo State Farm, we believe everyone deserves to be treated with dignity, respect and kindness. Insurance isn’t simply about policies and paperwork. It’s about people. It’s about the young couple buying their first home. The parent protecting their children. The small-business owner building something from the ground up. The grandparent making sure the next generation has a little more opportunity. The family who has worked hard to build a life and wants to protect it. Everybody has a story. Everybody has value. Everybody deserves a seat at the table. That’s the kind of community, and agency, we want to help build.
Motivational Moment
WORD OF THE MONTH: PURPOSE
You don’t have to have your entire life figured out. Sometimes the road changes. Sometimes the plan falls apart. Sometimes God closes a door we were certain needed to stay open. And sometimes, what feels like a detour turns out to be part of the destination.
Keep moving. Keep growing. Keep loving your people. Keep your faith.
You don’t have to see the whole staircase.
Just take the next step.
Confident in the process. Steadfast in your faith. And remember: Your story isn’t finished yet.

About Me
I am a native of Lansing, MI, and have been a resident in the Mesa community since 2013. I have over 15 years of State Farm Claims background and have served in various leadership roles over my career. I take pride in being active and engaged in community service. I hold a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice with a Specialization in Chicano/Latino Studies from Michigan State University and an associate’s degree in media technology from Lansing Community College.
Faith, family, community, music and athletics are all strong values of mine. I have been married to my amazing wife Raquel since 1999. We have four adult children (Jasmine, Aliciana, Alexis, and Yonni Jr), four grandchildren (Jasai, Aleia, Ayana, Theori, and our newest addition Jru Julian), and enjoy creating memories and spending time as a family. I am a weekend musician and also love basketball and golf. I am passionate about my Latino culture and devote much of my time to diversity and inclusion community projects and events. I feel privileged to create a safe space where all are respected and have a voice at the table. I work to provide opportunities for everyone to excel, develop, and have opportunities to achieve their dreams. I am not just a work colleague, I am a true friend, mentor, leader, and an ally to those who might not otherwise be heard. I am a man of action. I am honored to open our agency and through our outreach in insurance and financial products for individual and family needs, we pledge to grow the sense of community and belonging in the Mesa area.
